"Plans were procured from Mr. Cassell, architect of Baltimore, Md.,
and the work of erection began" (Peterkin, Geo. W., A History and Record
of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Diocese of West Virginia,
1902).
"Cassell was recommended to the vestry by Bishop Peterkin in 1882,
who, before he became the first Episcopal Bishop of West Virginia in 1878,
had been Rector of Baltimore's Memorial Church, Cassell, who practiced
in Baltimore, had designed that church. Cassell designed a stone building
for Trinity Parish, but when bids proved too high, brick with stone trim
was substituted, and new bids were requested. Hoback and Cochran of Huntington
won the commission." (Haworth, James R. parish history, 1964).
